Wed, and Thurs., Sept. 8 & 9

Wed. was not a very exciting day so I decided not to write except to say that we moved from Cape Cod to Foxboro which is nearer to Boston. We are at an exceptional RV Park called Normandy Farms. It has 2 baseball diamonds, 2 basketball courts, a trout pond, a lodge, playground, off leash dog park, lodge, 4 swimming pools (3 outside and 1 inside), and golf course to name a few. The grounds are kept immaculately and it is manned 24 hrs. We arrived around 3:30 and after we got set up we took the dogs to the dog park. Later, Bill and Rojo sat outside and read. (Bill not Rojo but he could have!)

Thurs. was a great day. We took the dogs over to the dog park for a little while. Then we drove to Boston and after riding around for quite a while we finally found the visitors center. In it we got tickets for a trolley that took us to John Adams home. It was right smack in the middle of Boston and it had been a farm. The house was small and had very low ceilings and huge fire places. The floor boards were anywhere from 18-20" wide. The second house where John Q. Adams was born is, of course, was where John and Abigail were living when John Q was born. It was larger than the first one. It is hard to imagine this home was the home of a prosperous lawyer soon to be President of the United States.

From there the trolley took us to the Adam's home when they returned from England. It wasn't a small home initially but when it was finished it was 10,000 sq. ft. Abagail had become accustomed to opulence in England!  We also toured John Quincy Adams's library, unofficially, the 1st presidential library.

We had lunch in a NY Deli and then returned to the RV. We built a small fire and sat outside with Rojo. Once again he is enjoying a nice cold beer! I don't know what we have done to this dog but he and Bill make a pair!

  1. Normandy Farms looks more like a resort, beautiful. The tour of the Adams' home looked really neat, love all that American history. Rojo is a hoot, need to send that pic to beer advertisers. If you get a chance, go to Concord, Nathanial Hawthorn's home (wrote Scarlet Letter, etc.) and Salem, a lot of history there too, we enjoyed when in MA.
